LCD TV's - A buyers Guide Here's our guide to buying LCD TV's and related equipment. Why LCD? LCD is a digital display technology which means you get picture perfect image quality compared with analogue CRT based TV's. Analogue systems suffer from ageing effects, crosstalk between input signals, and all manner of other annoyances. LCDs are taking over from CRT and will continue to do so. Screen Size An LCD screen is measured diagonally from bottom right to top left of the screen. LCD TV's are available in a range of sizes to fit many applications and potential uses, from small 7in LCD's for use in in-car DVD player systems to HDTV: HDTV is an acronym which more of us will become used to over the next few years, it applies to television system broadcast in a high definition format which gives greater picture clarity (definition), than exisiting standard definition TV sytems. HDTV format will make larger screens appear to have a greater image quality compared as there is a greater detail of information provided in the signal. HDMI: You will find a HDMI connetor on the back of your HD-LCD TV. This connector allows you to connect your Hi-definition LCD TV to other Hi-definition items such as DVD players/recorders. Beware Hi Definition compatible sets may not be Hi definition themselves, just that they support the HDTV standard input connector - HDMI. Where to Buy? We recommend the following suppliers: Empire Direct - These guys know their stuff and have some great LCD TVs on offer |
